A dark, cigarette-smelling rehearsal room. The only dim lights are candles and a lava lamp. A lightly dressed young woman lounges on the worn out leather couch. It is hot. And psychedelic tremolo guitars vibrate from the guitar amps – If you had to describe the music of Paloma & The Matches from Bremen, this picture would probably be the most appropriate.

Above all the band is characterized by a handmade mix of good-mood surf music, dirty guitar riffs, paired with funky basslines and melancholic dreamy sounds that are reminiscent of old Tarantino or Bond soundtracks. Oriental drums get lost in the authentic overall picture, permeated by rough main vocals of the singer Bianca Paloma Marstaller and rounded by the experimental three-part harmonies of the male band members: Kai Kampf, Tom Wagner and Nils O’Swald.

The four hippies in leather jackets, bell bottoms and chelsea boots take you on a journey through time and paint their very own blurry picture of a 60s utopia. Their unique sound works best on a stage with a large dance floor – or at least turned up very loud on the grandparents’ record player.
